For the Asia region, Modern Times Technical Systems (MTTS) got the award for its KNX installation at Princess Nora Bint AbdulRahman University. Princess Nora University is the largest women-only university in the world with 32 campuses across the Riyadh region, a library capable of holding 4.5 million volumes and a 700 bed teaching hospital and research centers for nanotechnology, information technology and biosciences.
Princess Nora Bint AbdulRahman University also has the distinction of being the world's largest and most modern women's institution of higher education in a self-contained higher education city. One of the new campuses inaugurated on May 2011 can accommodate 40,000 students and 12,000 employees.
The KNX Award 2012
The KNX installation at Princess Noura University for Women in Saudi Arabia stood out because of its unusually large scope and sophisticated control features. The project was implemented at the university’s new 40,000-student campus, and controls and dims the lights in lecture halls, classrooms, offices, corridors and bathrooms, in some cases on the basis of presence detectors.
Highlights of the KNX installation include smart controls for classrooms that can be divided up into smaller rooms, and fully automatic shading systems for the large glazed window areas to protect against solar radiation and efficient climate control.
